Honnef Earns GSC Weekly Honor

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- Tina Honnef has been named the Gulf South Conference Women's Golf Freshman of the Week following a standout performance that secured her first collegiate title, as announced by the conference office.

Honnef, a Thun, Bern, Switzerland, native, posted an impressive two-round score of 142, finishing two under par at the tournament. After carding an opening-round 70, she continue her strong play with a 72 in the second round, earning a place in a three-way playoff for the individual title.

With a 12-foot birdie putt in the shoot-off, Honnef claimed the victory, helping secure the league's weekly honor.

This marks the first weekly award for the freshman. She joins former Choctaw, Ida Lundh, who racked up four GSC Freshman of the Week laurels last season and earned Freshman of the Year.

Mississippi College returns to action on Monday, Oct. 14 as it travels to Jonesboro, Ark., and the Sage Meadows Country Club for the Lady Red Wolves Classic.
